Flexible power supply with OBO underfloor systems

Its impressive design and appearance have made the Arena Sports Hall the architectural symbol of the city of Zagreb. OBO OKA underfloor systems were installed in a tight, hidden cable routing grid in the floor of the Zagreb arena. This means that the arena's power supply can be adapted flexibly to the appropriate event requirements.

The Arena Sports Hall Zagreb was erected in the period between July 2007 and December 2009 in the western part of the Croatian capital, on the occasion of the 2009 men's Handball World Cup.

The Arena Sports Hall, which cost 250 million euros, offers 15,200 seats and fulfils all the national and international criteria for the organisation of large-scale events. However, depending on the type of event, e.g. for concerts, the capacity can be increased to up to 22,000 seats. Due to its special architecture, the Arena Sports Hall can be used in a particularly large number of ways. It is not only suitable for a large range of sports' events, but also for commercial events and entertainment, such as concerts, exhibitions and congresses. In addition, the Arena Sports Hall also possesses several restaurants, rooms for business and commercial use as well as a small training hall.

A key element that enables the versatility of the Arena Sports Hall is the ability to adapt the cable routing in the hall to the appropriate events. To achieve this, the OBO OKA-B system was used to install a tight, hidden cable routing grid in the screed. The OKA-B duct sections were installed in large areas of the arena and equipped with the appropriate OBO underfloor boxes. This system permits flexible access to power, data and telecommunications networks. This creates the ideal conditions for reacting to different power supply requirements for constantly changing events.
